Bourdon-Type Pressure Gauge Selection Recommendations and Analysis
I. Core Parameter Compatibility Verification
Range and Accuracy
Range: Your required 0-2.5 bar range meets low-pressure measurement needs, but pressure fluctuations in industrial scenarios may exceed expectations. We recommend selecting a model with a range of 0-4 bar (actual use should not exceed 2/3 of the full-scale range, or 1.67 bar) to provide a safety margin and prevent prolonged high stress on the spring tube.
Accuracy: Class 1 accuracy (±1% full-scale deviation) is suitable for general industrial control. For higher accuracy requirements (such as in laboratories or precision manufacturing), consider a Class 0.5 accuracy model (such as the WIKA PG23HP-S.100, with an accuracy of ±0.5%).
Dial Size and Window Material
150mm dial: Provides a clear reading field of view, suitable for long-distance readings or low-light environments.
Methacrylate window: Impact-resistant and UV-resistant, with a light transmittance of ≥90%, superior to ordinary glass, suitable for outdoor use or harsh environments.
II. Material Alternative eva luation
Pressure Element Material
Monel 400 is unacceptable: 316 stainless steel is a reasonable alternative. 316 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance in chloride environments than 304, but less than Monel 400. If the medium contains high concentrations of chloride ions (such as seawater), the calibration interval should be shortened to three months, and the gauge body should be inspected regularly for corrosion.
Applicable Scenario: 316 stainless steel is suitable for media such as weak acids, weak bases, and seawater, but should avoid strong acids (such as concentrated sulfuric acid) or strong bases.
Casing Material
SS304 (304 stainless steel): Moderate corrosion resistance, lower cost than 316, and suitable for non-corrosive media. If the media is highly corrosive, consider upgrading to a 316 stainless steel casing.
III. Protection and Sealing Performance Analysis
IP Rating
IP67: Ensures the pressure gauge is dustproof and waterproof, and can withstand short-term immersion in water (1 meter for 30 minutes). Suitable for outdoor or humid environments. In particularly harsh environments, a rain cover can be added to extend its life. Liquid Filling
Glycerin or silicone oil: Reduces vibration and noise, preventing excessive pointer swing. Glycerin is suitable for temperatures between -20°C and 60°C, while silicone oil is suitable for temperatures between -40°C and 150°C. The selection should be based on the media temperature.
Seal Material
FPM (Fluororubber): High-temperature resistant (200°C), suitable for high-temperature media such as steam.
FKM (Fluorocarbon Rubber): Chemically resistant, suitable for environments with strong acids and organic solvents.
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): Strongly acidic and alkali-resistant, suitable for media such as concentrated sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide.

IV. Installation and Maintenance
Installation Requirements
Vertical Installation: Ensure that the threaded connections are free of stress and the tilt angle is ≤5°. Otherwise, zero calibration is required. 1/2" NPT male thread connection: Complies with ASME B1.20.1 standards. Ensure thread accuracy to prevent leakage.
Maintenance Recommendations: Regularly check for fill fluid leaks and add glycerin or silicone oil if necessary.
Calibration Interval: Generally, calibration should be performed every 12 months. In environments with high vibration or high temperatures, this should be reduced to 6 months.
Troubleshooting: Pointer jitter may be due to fill fluid leakage, which should be checked and replenished. Zero drift requires calibration after standing at 20°C ± 5°C for 2 hours.
